CardMaker/Bernd Maucksch

How I began ...

Magic hit me the first time when I was about 10 years old. But I guess this happens often to 10 years old guys ....

Now, more than 30 years later magic came into my life for a second time. I did, what most beginners do these days: buy, buy, buy! It is so easy to spend money on magic ;-)
I found myself comfortable with card magic. Lots of packet tricks..... But repeating the same tricks to the same audience is not that amusing. So I decided to make the necessary special cards for the packet tricks myself. Not only to have variations, but also because some of the commercial gaffs were horrible made.

Finally, in the year 2000 I sold some of my cards to a German distributor of Bicycle® cards in general. This was the beginning! After about 500 to 1,000 handmade cards I decided to offer my services to the public:

June 2002: CardMaker/Bernd Maucksch was founded.

I sell my cards (it all started with shimmed and magnetic cards, at that time the cigarette-thru-cards too) to a few dealers, mainly in Germany and some abroad - but most of the cards I manufacture are made to my customers wishes.

It is a lot of fun to make the cards, especially when there are really new ideas for gaffed cards.
I am not making my living with cards; I am a salesman on the road, 5 days a week and all that CardMaker stuff is done the evenings and the weekends.
Some may think that my service is pricey. Yes it is. My intention is not to serve the absolute beginners in magic - although they are welcome too! - but to provide professionals all over the world with their very own cards for their very own magic! This is sometimes a bit frustrating, since some pros don't want others to know that they use gaffed cards at all. So they will never sign my guestbook :-(

Nowadays I can make nearly anything with Bicycle® cards. It would be a pleasure for me to make YOUR gaff too!

Please remember: I do all that CardMaker stuff besides my main job. So I only have time for your cards to be made in the evenings or the weekends. When it sometimes takes a little longer to have your custom order completed; I apologize for this! I try my best all the time; I check my emails 24hours/7days, so I am able to reply quickly - at least.

If you like to know what I do for my living in real life; check this out.

Sincerely yours,

CardMaker
